Dear Parents and Community Members,
As principal of Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy I am so thrilled to be part of this learning community. Here at Columbia Crest we are striving to provide a strong academic foundation through both exploratory and project based learning. We capitalize on the innate curiosity of students and inspire all students to learn and grow through intentional integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
STEM classrooms integrate curriculum instead of teaching them in isolation. Students learn in an engaging, problem based environment where collaboration and creativity are encouraged and supported. As a STEM Light House Grant recipient not only are we striving to grow but we also share our learning with other schools that are in the process of integrating STEM into their school.
Here at Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy we are a part of a family. With a small school environment we get to know each other very well and build long term relationships with one another. Located in a small community of Ashford we also have a variety of STEM Partners that are working with us to build relationships. A few of our partners are Northwest Trek, Pack Forest, Mt. Tahoma Lodge, Starry Hill Observatory, Pierce County Public Works, and Mt. Rainier National Park.
As for me, I came to Eatonville School District in July of 2013 from the Chehalis School District where I had been a Dean of Student for the past two years. I have worked for a variety of district and was a teacher for approximately 9 years. I taught first through fifth grade, 4-6th grade Gifted Education, and have been a Reading Specialist. Prior to that, I was an educational assistant for six years. I earned a Master's in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Lesley University. In addition, I have a Bachelors Degree in Education with Reading and Early Childhood Education Endorsements that I earned through Saint Martin's University.
I have spend many years in education and love working with your children. Being a Principal at such an innovative school is a dream come true. I firmly believe that here at Columbia Crest we offer a unique experience where students grow and learn.
I appreciate the trust you put in us to educate your children.
