“A note From the Board President” 2013 has begun and we have lots of exciting programs we're moving ahead on. A highlighted area we're looking forward to celebrating is the continued increase in our graduation rate that we've been enjoying over the past few years!! We are currently working on a new K-6 math curriculum that is showing great progress in student achievement. The teachers are working hard with kids to better help them succeed not only in Math Curriculum, but reading and science too. We have great teachers and a supportive staff that want the best for ALL kids, so we're moving forward all the time. With the new State standards ahead we're moving forward on the Common Core and the 5 D's. We are one of the pilot school districts for the Teacher Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP) and doing well. We have just started a new program we're excited about called "No Drop Out" recovery program. It's a program that identifies students, that for some reason have disengaged from the educational system. They are assisted in reengaging through the "No Drop Out' system by identifying what they need and developing a plan that the student commits to so they can be successful. For a District our size that could be up to 30 kids! Isn't that exciting? We continue to work on moving our district's Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs forward and to provide more opportunities for kids! Our CTE programs are becoming very robust and with additional opportunities at the Pierce County Skills Center we're offering more to students that may not want to choose College after high school. We have positive things happening all over the district and if you have a chance please swing into one of our facilities.
